James Mackie is an experienced creative designer with an extensive range of hands-on skills. He is backed-up by a small team of equally talented and friendly staff and an array of highly skilled craftsmen and contractors all dedicated to providing the highest quality of service. The Mackies experience is one that inspires confidence and peace of mind. The personal service the company offers is customer focused, dedicated to ensuring that everyone receives the right product or service for their needs. James has art and design in his bones as both his parents were art teachers. He grew up in Lancaster and attended Lancaster Boys Grammar School after which James chose music for the first part of his career. He spent several very successful years as the keyboard player for the Two Tone band The Selecter and later played for Madness. He then went on to compose for theatre, television, film and radio. His musical interests continue with his current hammond beat band Get Carter. He was taught gilding and specialist painting in London by a craftsman who had done restoration work at Buckingham Palace and for Aspreys. He then started to make and paint furniture and became a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen. In 2000 James decided to dedicate himself full-time to interior design and opened Mackies of Lancaster. The shop is dedicated to helping people fulfil their dreams. Don't hesitate to visit, you're always very welcome whether you need a simple tin of beautiful paint or a full makeover. |
